Overview

I would define Flat Traveling as a virtual vacation. You send your Flat Traveler to a host with his travel journal.

The host treats the Flat as a house guest. He participates in activites, field trips, family dinners, etc. The host takes pictures to show their guest's activities. Please keep in mind that you don't have to do anything "special" with a visiting Flat. For the owners, just seeing your neighborhood grocery store might be fun.

After a specified amount of time, the host sends the Flat back to its owner with its travel journal, photos, and possbily souvenirs. To keep postage costs down, some items can be e-mailed to the owner.

In a nutshell:
1. You make a Flat Traveler.
2. You exchange the Flat.
3. You host your visiting Flat for a pre-determined amount of time.
4. You send your visitor back to his owner with a goody bag.

It is a lot of fun. It allows us to:

- meet new people from all over the world
- learn about different states and countries
- be creative while hosting and writing the visiting Flats travel journal
- educate our daughter on various topics (e.g. the post office, writing letters, creative writing, etc.)
- provide inexpensive entertainment... I'm not saying postage is cheap, but it's cheaper than even renting a movie around here!
